Fire Fighter in the Flesh

We did not have enough happening in our lives so Daniel decided that he was going to start a new career too! We are very excited to say that Daniel will be starting school on Saturday to become a firefighter and emergency responder. Firefighting is something Dan has always wanted to do so he decided to go for it. Winnipeg has new program called S.M.A.R.T. The schooling will last for about 5 months and will include a trip down to Dallas for two weeks, where he will live and train with firefighters. He will do Internet courses during the week and go to class on Saturdays for the hands on stuff. He does not know how he will react to the medical side of it. Your prayers once again are appreciated. His plan is to work part time while he is going to school.

Getting Settled

Most of the boxes are unpacked now and the internet and cable are all set up-life can begin again! Here in Winnipeg, there are lots of sunny days and everyone is making sure that we feel welcomed and that we have everything we need. We have seen God's faithfulness throughout this move. We made it over the border by the skin of our teeth. God really helped us out there. We did not know if but we were supposed to have the title for our car in our hands at the border and we did not--it was actually packed somewhere in the moving truck. But they let us through and later we found out from the border guards that they have never seen a car get through without showing the title--thank you God.
All of our belongings made it in one piece.
Daniel is working for a landscaping company right now while he figures out what he is going to do next. The plan was to transfer with FedEx but there is a hiring freeze right now. I (Sarah) am still working for my Dad by way of a virtual office. This is a huge blessing because I am not able to work in Canada for at least six months while I wait for my working visa. Without this job I would go crazy so I am sooooooo thankful!

For all of you Roxy fans (Roxy is our kitty) she is doing very well in her new home. She is very excited to be a Canadian now.

APRIL 4TH--MOVING DAY!!!

We hit the road with our moving truck on April 4th. Actually it is more like a moving Semi-truck. It is amazing how much stuff you have when you put it all in boxes!! It took three days to get to Winnipeg. We stopped for two nights along the way.
When we arrived in Winnipeg it was almost midnight on the 6th of April. We found some sleeping bags in the moving truck and laid them out on the carpet for the first night. That was the first time that we had seen the house that we would be renting for the next 6 to 12 months. We feel very lucky that this home is nice and fits all our stuff. We will post some pics as soon as we have some.

Europe Adventure

At the crack of dawn on March 15, we started our trip to Europe. Our first few days were spent in Dublin. We spent a lot of our time feeling very out of place in that city. Finally after a few days of being there, we decided that Dubliners are not the most friendly people and that we must look like Americans walking around. Dubliners are very fashionable and fashion was the last thing on our minds when we were trying to pack the least amount of clothes possible in our backpacks. In Dublin we visited two castles, Guinness Brewery, and the Christ Church Cathedral.

Rome was the next stop. We stayed in the cutest bed and breakfast there. It was called "Roman Holiday" and it was 10 minutes from the Vatican-if you know anyone going to Rome, send them to this hotel. We saw all the stuff you would see in Rome:Colosseum, Historical Ruins, Vatican, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps and more! It was a very good time. We enjoyed the cafes where wine is included with your meal. Water costs three times as much as water in Rome--so good!

Off to Paris. Paris was probably our favorite stop out of all the cities. The culture in Paris is unlike any other. But our hotel was disgusting. We nicknamed it our Hepatitis "D" Hotel. We convinced ourselves that the blankets on our bed had a new strain of Hepatitis in them. We never even took off our shoes in this room--that is how yucky it was. We had fun with it though. We saw the Eiffel tower, Louvre Museum, A girl get pick pocketed, Notre Dame, and the Arch.

London was the last stop. The bed and breakfast was in a prime location, right by the train and subway. We were surprised to find that London has tons of cheap Indian restaurants. And we love Indian food so that worked out great! We saw all sorts of things in London, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, London Tower, Tower Bridge, and the British Museum and Library.
